2015년 11월 13일 프랑스 파리에 위치한 바타클랑 극장에서 벌어진 테러사건은 약 130여명의 목숨을 앗아갔습니다. 이후 전 세계는 큰 슬픔에 빠졌으며 테러에 굴복하지 않겠다는 강한 의지를 보였습니다.

 

  그로부터 2년 뒤, 2017년 11월 13일 바타클랑 극장에서는 테러2주기 추모식이 열렸습니다.  TFH팀은 평화프로젝트의 일환으로 추모식 현장에서 김태은 작가의 퍼포먼스 '평화를 보존하다' 를 진행하였습니다.

 

  경찰과 완전무장한 군인들이 도로를 막고 설치해 놓은 안전망을 넘어 바타클랑 극장 앞에 도착한 김태은작가는 프랑스어, 영어, 한국어로 평화라는 단어를 바닥에 그려넣었습니다. 그리고 한국에서 준비해온 그의 소금미디움을 바닥에 부어 소금이 단어들 속으로 스며들도록 손으로 어루만졌습니다. 투명 아크릴박스를 퍼포먼스 작품 위에 덮고 현장에서 생중계 중이던 리포터로부터 건네받은 꽃을 올려놓은 뒤 짧은 묵념으로 그의 퍼포먼스는 마무리 되었습니다.

 

  이번 프로젝트는 분단의 아픔을 겪고있는 한국으로부터 평화의 메시지를 파리 시민들에게 전달하고자 했던 작가의 바램에서 기획된 프로젝트였습니다. 프랑스 언론사들과의 인터뷰에서 그는 "마치 평화가 땅에 버려지고 짓밟히듯 보이지만 여전히 평화가 살아 숨쉬고 있음을 믿으며 나는 이를 보존하고 싶었다" 라고 밝혔습니다.

 

 

BATACLAN THEATER

 

The terrorist attack at the Bataclan Theater in Paris, France on November 13, 2015, claimed the lives of 130 people. Despite the overwhelming grief, the world has shown a strong will not to give in to terrorism.

 

Two years later, on November 13, 2017, the second annual memorial service was held at the Bataclan Theater. As part of the peace project, the TFH team held Kim Tae Un's performance "Preserving Peace" at the site.

 

Walking past the fences that the police and fully armed soldiers put on the road to control the access to the terrorist scene, Kim arrived at the Bataclan Theater. In front of the theater, he etched the word "peace" on the ground in French, English, and Korean. Then, he poured his salt medium that had been prepared in Korea on the ground and spread it with his hands so that it could penetrate into the words. He placed a transparent acrylic box on the work and finished his performance with a silent prayer after placing over it a flower given by a French woman reporter who was live-broadcasting the performance.

 

This project was designed according to the artist's wish to convey the message of peace to the citizens of Paris on behalf of Koreans who have suffered the tragic history of division. In an interview with the French media, Kim said, "It seems today that peace is discarded on the ground under the heel of violence, but I do believe that it is still alive. My performance was to preserve my faith in peace and to convey a sincere message of comfort to the victims of the terrorist attack. I also believe that the Korean Peninsula, which is still suffering from the division, will recover peace someday, and I hope that the 21st century will be remembered as an era of peace and great humanism."
